Some senior buddies from Room 6 came into Room 3 to help us work on Photostories about our zoo trip. We got so much done with our helpers there!
Here are Lucia's and Azra and Kase's Photostories. Families, if you would like to see your child's Photostory, come into the classroom and ask to have a look in their file.
In Week 8 the Junior Syndicate visited Hamilton Zoo. In our Voicethread, you will see and hear about some of the animals and other interesting things we saw and did at the zoo.
Alison is big. She is nearly the tallest in the pharmacy. She spikes her hair all the time. She even has spikes today. She is funny. She calls me Froof.
My sister acts like a clown. She is funny. I like her. She wriggles at the movies. My sister likes interesting things. Amara likes pink. Also she likes kittens.
Te Uku School Athletics Day was held last Tuesday. We all took part in high jump, long jump, sprints, discus and shotput. Take a look at the photos of us participating and having lots of fun!
Last week Room 3, Room 1 and Room 4 worked together to plant some vegetables. Watch our Photostory to see what we did.
We planted four types of seeds: runner bean, radish, spring onion and mustard. Look at the picture below. Which seeds do you think might go with which seed packet? You can click on the picture to make it bigger.
Keep checking out the blog to see how our plants are growing.
On Friday Robbie's rabbit Loppy visited Room 3. It was interesting to see a rabbit that was a different kind than Kase's rabbit. Loppy is a lop-eared rabbit so his ears hang down. He is also an albino, which is why he has pink eyes.
We could pat Loppy but we couldn't cuddle him because he would kick, scratch and bite. He sat quietly in the circle and twitched his nose.
Robbie's family got Loppy from a petting zoo. He eats all sorts of healthy things like pellets, carrots, cabbage, cauliflower, dandelions and watercress.
Frankie was one of the dancers in the Whaingaroa 350 Flash Mob. She got involved through her dance teacher Patti. We asked Frankie what it was like to take part in the Flash Mob performance. She told us that it was quite fun. She was excited, and a tiny bit nervous about dancing in front of so many people.
We hope you enjoy watching the video. See if you can spot Frankie and her friends from dance class.

Ra likes to go the skateboard bowl and he likes to do kick flips. Ra got a pinecone thrown in his eye and he can still drive a truck. Ra won the karate because he was tough.
In Room 3 we have been doing character writing. Our writing needs to show our readers something about what our character is like. We have been writing about people in our families and our pets. Over the next couple of weeks we will be posting lots of our character writing for you to read. We hope you enjoy our work, and please leave a comment!
Yesterday Kase brought his rabbit Floppy to school.
Floppy hopped around the classroom and didn't seem too scared by the children chasing him! We all got to cuddle Floppy and stroke his soft fur. Kase told us that Floppy is a friendly rabbit, but that he does bite sometimes. We interviewed Kase about Floppy:
What does he eat?
Carrots, lettuce, pellets and grass.
Where did you get him from?
The pet shop.
Where does he live? In a rabbit cage outside.
Here are some more pictures of Floppy and his new friends in Room 3.
On Thursday October 29th children from Te Mata, Waitetuna, Whatawhata, Te Kowhai, Rotokauri, Horotiu and Raglan Area School came to Te Uku to take part in the Junior Tabloids sports day. Our senior classes ran the games and led the teams around, and we had so much fun taking part in all the activities. In our Voicethread you can see some photos of the day and listen to us talk about the games.
Thursday October 15th was Agricultural Day at Te Uku School. In Room 3, we made crazy animals out of recycled materials. Check out the photos of us painting, making and showing off our wild creations!
We are a Year 1 class at Te Uku School, near Raglan, New Zealand. In our blog we will be sharing some of our exciting learning with our whanau, friends and the world! We hope you enjoy reading and viewing our blog.
